Labourers assist and support other skilled tradespersons on a job site including setting up and dismantling forms, site preparation and clean-up, concrete placement and finishing, mason tending, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various duties involving lifting, carrying tool use and machinery management.
  • Assist heavy equipment operators in securing and guiding the movement of equipment.
  • Level earth to grade specifications.
  • Assist in demolishing buildings.
  • Mix, pour and spread concrete and asphalt.
  • Operate pneumatic hammers and tampers.
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites.

  • Ability to work outdoors in diverse weather.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience using power tools & machinery.

Entering the Trade

  • Is there a training pathway for this trade? Yes
  • Number of Levels: 2 (technical training in development)
  • Total Required Apprenticeship Hours: 3,600
  • Total Hours Required to Challenge Exam as a Trade Qualifier: 5,400

Hourly Pay

Salary Range: $30.19 – $33.86/hr (based on 2023 collective agreement Journeyperson hourly rate)
